Feeding Guide

How much Home Made Pet Cuisine should I feed my pet?

The general rule of thumb is to feed your your cat or your dog 2% of their body weight daily.

In other words, a 10 lb dog would receive 0.2 lbs of food per day. A 2 lb cat would only require 0.018 kg of food per day.

High Energy Dogs and Breeds

For very active dogs, you should increase this feeding amount to 3% of their body weight per day. For very sedentary dogs prone to weight gain, you can drop the amount down to 1.5% of their body weight per day.

Kittens, Puppies, Ferret Kits and Pregnant or Lactating Bitches or Queens

Pets 4 Life Home Raw Pet Cuisine is certified complete and balanced for all life stages by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.

Kittens, Puppies, pregnant bitches/queens or lactating bitches or queens may require up to 10% of their body weight per day. Care should be taken with puppies to ensure that they remain lean, and this is particularly important in large or giant breed puppies. It should be easy to feel your puppy’s ribs – if it isn’t, he might be too chubby.

Weaning

Pets 4 Life Home Raw Pet Cuisine is certified complete and balanced for all life stages by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.

Kittens, puppies and ferret kits can all be weaned directly on to Pets 4 Life Home Made Pet Cuisine.

Wean young animals at the age you are most comfortable doing so, and offer Home Made Pet Cuisine mixed with gently warmed whole Goat’s Milk to the consistency of  a thin slurry. Offer slurry to weaning young in a shallow dish, remove when young have finished eating their fill. Repeat three to five times per day.

Over the course of a week to ten days, reduce the amount of goat’s milk and increase the amount of Home Made Raw Pet Cuisine until weanlings are eating entirely raw food. Feed based on your breed’s recommendation, three to five times per day.

General Guidelines on Feeding and Handling Raw Pet Cuisine

Remember to always offer your pet’s an unlimited supply of cool, fresh drinking water.

The packaging used by Pets4Life has been chosen to provide our gourmet pet cuisine with optimum freshness and nutritional value. It is designed to protect the flavor, color, moisture content and nutritional content from freezer temperatures. All natural ingredients are selected at their peak and processed under optimal conditions. The resulting product is flash frozen and kept in a consistent subzero temperature to protect the quality of our food.

Our gourmet pet cuisine should be handled with the consideration that its main ingredients are RAW meat, fish and poultry. All raw pet food diets will spoil if left un refrigerated for an extended period of time.

To thaw, remove product from packaging and place in a sealable, lidded container which is then placed in the fridge for thawing.

We recommend feeding your pet from glass or stainless steel pet dishes. Any excess food not eaten should be immediately returned to refrigerator, or discarded.

Raw meat products may contain bacteria that could cause illness if mishandled. Keep raw meat separate from other foods; wash working surfaces, utensils and hands with hot soapy water after each feeding. Treat as you would any raw meat product. Product should be used within 2-3 days of thawing. Do not re-freeze once it has been defrosted.
