Why Create Another Pet Food?
We care. It’s as simple as that. We feel that too many pet food companies are
providing inferior nutrition for our pets, leading to the alarming rise in
health problems such as itchy skin, excessive gas, diabetes, pancreatitis, hip
displaysia, and all types of cancers. This translates into shorter, poorer
quality lives for beloved pets, and higher vet bills for their caretakers.
You can rest assured that Home Made Pet Cuisine has been carefully
formulated and analyzed by qualified, degreed, experienced animal nutritionists
not only to meet but to exceed CVMA, NRC, and AAFCO requirements. The
ingredients used have been carefully selected to provide superior, essential
nutrition for your pet(s). All ingredients are human-grade and are personally
inspected for freshness and quality to ensure that your pet will receive optimal
nutrition from our product. Our very own pets receive nothing but the best, and
Home Made Pet Cuisine is it! We believe your pets deserve the best, too.

How is Home Made Pet Cuisine better?
In the increasingly crowded pet food market, Home Made Pet Cuisine stands above
its competition for several important reasons. Our superior pet food is prepared
using carefully selected, [USDA] inspected, certified human-grade ingredients
that are pure and whole. We do not use so-called “approved for pet food”
ingredients such as “offal” or “by-products.” We do not “denature” the food, for
example by adding charcoal or other inactive ingredients. We do not “water down”
the nutritional content of our food by packing it full of grains that carnivores
do not need and cannot fully utilize. Home Made Pet Cuisine contains NO
PRESERVATIVES, NO ADDITIVES, NO SALT, NO SUGARS, NO CHEMICALS, NO FILLERS.
In short, there is nothing “unnatural” about this pet food. And of course we use
proper HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point - food handling)
procedures.

Packaging info
The Home Made Pet Cuisine is packaged in food-grade environmentally
sensitive packaging. The packaging is suitable for keeping the food preserved
with minimal loss due to freezer burn. Our
packaging is designed to reduce the normal excessive freezer burn that can occur
in patties and other loose formats. We also use no fillers or additional binders
usually found in pre formed products. The packaging is great for storing Home
Made Pet Cuisine left overs in the refrigerator. To be absolutely certain to contain
the natural juices from ingredients PLEASE thaw all raw pet food in a plastic or
glass container. You may choose from a 1 pound or a 3 pound size for dogs. If
you have a small dog, the one pound size is probably best for you. If you have
large or multiple dogs in your house, the three pound size may be more suitable.
Please ask your retailer about our “BULK” 10 Lb and 25 Lb. made to order
options. We offer a convenient 1/2
pound size for cats and ferrets. We generally suggest feeding 1/2 pound of food daily per 25 pounds of animal body weight. Please
view the chart below to see how much your pet may eat daily. Consumption will
vary depending on the activity level of your pet. If you need help deciding what

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you use organic, pesticide-free veggies?
Nothing is pesticide-free unless grown in a bubble. We wash our vegetables
down which is the next best thing to having them pesticide-free. Our vegetables
are federally inspected but not organic. However, the flaxseed and other fine
ingredients are organic. Many organic growers do not go through the government
food inspection agency because they tend to sell direct or do not grow enough to
warrant the ‘red tape’ of the government. Organic growing does not produce
enough food as of yet. As well, you can still have 5% pesticides on organic food
and still label it organic. Many do this in order to have higher yields. We not
only wash the vegetables but also use a form of citric acid to kill germs (aka
Grapefruit Seed Extract).aka
Grapefruit Seed Extract).

Are the meats organic, steroid-free, hormone-free
and antibiotic-free?
The meat that we use is federally inspected. We would not have it otherwise.
The quality of meat is better than what is found in most grocery stores. In my
opinion it is organic without putting the organic label on it. The suppliers are
not organic certified but are close enough to being organic. We purchase our
food direct from the suppliers. We spent 2 years researching thoroughly before
purchasing our meats and vegetables. Upon starting the company we had pages and
pages of suppliers. Each supplier was called personally and several questions
about quality, hormones, antibiotics, freshness, inspection, etc. were asked.
One by one the suppliers were stroked off the list until there was only a
handful. We are very diligent when it comes to quality and food safety. By the
time we were left, we had suppliers who informed us that meat we will purchase
is antibiotic free and hormone free.
To give an example, it is illegal to sell poultry that has been treated with
hormones in Canada. As well, stringent testing is instructed by the Federal
Government to ensure the meat is antibiotic free and hormone free for the
Canadian public. This is why we have our meat come from federal plants. We have
had various Good Manufacturing Procedures put into place for our plant. As well,
we have followed the HACCP guidelines to ensure our food is of the utmost
quality.
We do not like to say organic because number one it should be certified organic
to be organic. As well, it is mostly wording. As mentioned previously certified
organic still can be 5% pesticides and pass. Home Made Pet Cuisine is natural and
consists of whole foods. It is made from foods that we consume ourselves. Home
Made Pet Cuisine is as close to organic as possible without the organic name or
certification.(back to top)
My dogs love Home Made Pet Cuisine but I find that some
of the veggies are not ground fine enough. I find bits of carrot, seeds and egg
shells. I am worried that they are not getting the nutrients that they need.
Would it not be better if you juiced the vegetables?
As far as the veggies go there are several important factors to consider:
The vegetables in the Home Made Pet Cuisine diet consist of both pulp and juice. The
juice is what contains the vital nutrients. The pulp is necessary for fiber
which helps to promote gut sweeping and cleansing. They are both very important
and you can not have a healthy bowel without fiber. The other important part of
the equation is that dogs generally get better at digesting the pulp over time
and you will not see the pulp in the stool. In fact, in my own dog’s, who has
been consuming Home Made Pet Cuisine for over 4 years now, stool there are no visible
ingredients. I would encourage you to give it time and use probiotics to enhance
absorption and digestion of the nutrients. Juicing the vegetables would mean
nutrient loss and we would end up with a very messy product.
The seeds are important too in the diet. They contain nutrients, fiber and some
also possess anti-parasitic components in treating worms. The egg shells are
very fine. There may be the odd one that is larger than the end of your pen but
for the most part they are fine.
We have to have a bit of bulk in the food in order to make the body work a bit.
If we were to just give food in liquid form then the digestive system would not
have to work anymore and you would just give your dog IV.
Note: Since August 2003, we started grinding the vegetables finer. Cats,
smaller dogs and older or ill pets will benefit with enhanced digestibility and
absorption of nutrients.
